We don't deserve dogs.

This wholesome story is about Moira, a vigilant German Shepherd who sensed trouble and sounded her rare, intimidating bark, alerting her owner to suspicious activity outside. Her hooman got up immediately, recognizing that something was awfully wrong, and went outside to investigate. Being a single woman in a rural neighborhood, she was glad to have Moira to protect her. It turned out that there were a couple of men outside who were tampering with what seemed to be a gas can.

Both Moira and her owner showed immense bravery… And chased the intruders away. Of course, Moira was rewarded with a delicious doggo steak breakfast for showing the kind of courage that every owner hopes their dog has.     Moira just alerted (she used her super scary Big Girl Bark, which she RARELY uses) on some people parked in as ty as van that I didn't recognize, in the gravel parking pad directly in front of my house. There was a dude that was f ng around with what appeared to be an empty, very large gas can. All the lights in & on the van were all off but I could see another person inside the van fiddling w/something small thanks to the street light at the corner of my parking pad.     I woke up as soon as I heard Moira go off, which also set off my pittie who had been sleeping in bed with me (Moira gets hot easily so she gets up & chills on the living room couch occasionally & also will just get up to patrol the house quickly then come back to bed). Moira stopped barking as soon as she saw I was up & ready. I had grabbed my sh un I always keep loaded near my bed- I'm a single woman living alone, it makes me feel safer.

    I have my living room curtains open so as soon as I walked into the living room I was able to see the people. I had turned on the hallway light but not the living room light so there was a little backlight on me & they didn't see me until the dude with the gas can turned directly back towards my house & looked up & he saw me standing in the living room w/ the st un.     They obviously weren't out of gas. And Moira usually doesn't give a flying fk about people outside the house unless they come up to it (except the mail lady, Moira recognizes her & doesn't alert to her anymore, I've got one of those little mailboxes right by the front door). So that makes me think that they actually did come up to the house either on the porch or more likely were going into my carport & that's what set Moira off. Im thinking they were either trying to steal gas from my car &/or

    I never actively trained her to be a protection dog (or a PD dog for that matter, she just can tell when I'm about to start having a panic attack or nightmare & trained herself to start nose-booping the hell out of me to alert me/wake me up & then lay on me or just lean on me if I'm standing). But she's always been super protective (always appropriate to the situation though, she's super smart) and tonight is the first night she's really shined in that regard.     This just happened at approx. 0330 & since my adrenaline & heartrate went through the roof, I still can't fall back asleep.     SketchAinsworth. 20 hr. ago My boy was at my parents one night because my parents had been having an issue of a car full of men parking in their driveway when there was no cars. My parents live in a super safe area with a driveway you wouldn't notice or turn around in so it was already odd, add that my mom is disabled and home alone when my dad works in the evenings.

    My mom told me he was napping in the hallway when they pulled in the driveway yet again. My boy slammed open their screen door and was in the fenced in yard telling that car to get out of his grandma's driveway before she could blink.     Glowing_Trash_Panda OP 20 hr. ago I've thought about it, but I checked my carport & around the house & nothing is missing. A couple neighbors do have cameras but I live in a more rural area of the state. I live in town, but my neighborhood is only 2 streets of houses right off of main st in the original part of town from when it was first started & since nothing actually happened the cops probably wouldn't even come out to get the neighbors camera footage. If another incident does occur though,

Some strangers in a white van, slowly drove up the hill, which could easily bottom out a car or cause ur tires to spin and throw up gravel if you weren't careful navigating it, almost as if they had made the drive up before, because you really had to know which way to veer. At any rate, they hopped out of the van and let themselves into the house, where my family member was sleeping

    bark, but went into the bedroom and woke my relative up quietly and kept alerting to follow. My family member realizes someone is in the house hearing quiet steps, grabs the sh- un and exits bedroom w his robe on and sh un aimed. He said "can I help you" they ran out, he fired a shot at the van for warning.
